Peyronies Disease

What is Peyronie's disease ?
Peyronies disease affects the penis and cause bend during erection. Although sex may be possible for men with this problem, it can be painful for both partners. In extreme cases of bend penetration may be difficult.

What Causes Peyronie's Disease?
Peyronie's disease is penis problem caused by scar tissue, called plaque, that forms inside the penis. This can result in restricted blood flow on one side pulling the penis to bend towards that side. It is believed that the fibrous plaque can start after trauma (usually during sexual intercourse) that causes bleeding inside the penis which heals by scar tissue. One may not notice the injury or trauma.he bend

Will the bend get better without any treatment ?
As the scar tissue gets absorbed many patients will notice a spontaneous improvement in the bend. However this may take unto 18 months from the start of the problem. Taking Vitamin E has been shown to improve the healing process.

What happens if the bend doesn't go away ?

If the bend continues to be problem beyond 18 months, surgical treatment becomes necessary. Birmingham Urology clinic offers Nesbits operation for correcting the bend.
